Dental Cleaning

A dental cleaning is a professional cleaning you receive from your Dental Hygienist.  Cleanings should be performed at least every six months for healthy individuals to prevent excessive plaque build up that may develop even with careful brushing and flossing, especially in areas that are difficult to reach.  Dental hygienists can remove hardened deposits (tartar) not removed by routine tooth brushing. Left untreated, plaque can lead to unhealthy bleeding gums, tooth decay and periodontal disease. Dental cleanings should include scaling and the removal of visible hard calculus deposits, polishing and an oral cancer screening.
